Generation Tech is Now Geek Troika

Wow. Itâs been a crazy beginning of the year and Generation Tech has
finally hit the double digits! As you may know, this coming week will
be episode 12 of our nifty little podcast. Weâve worked very hard to
put together what we hope is an enjoyable, fun and informative show.
There have been several changes in the past months as our tiny podcast
has gone through some growing pains.
Jon, Mike and I have always considered ourselves to be geeks. Weâre
movie geeks, weâre videogame geeks, weâre music geeks, weâre computer
geeks and well, Iâm a snobby geek. That is why Generation Tech will
become the Geek Troika podcast.

Several months ago, Jon Hardesty and I created Geek Troika
Productions and began producing the Generation Tech podcast and
website. When Jon and I started Geek Troika we wanted to dedicate our
production company to all things geek. We wanted a home for those who
overwhelm their friends with their passions for whatever it is they
happen to be passionate about. Of course, Jon and I are both very
passionate about film and technology, so Generation Tech seemed like a
perfect way to kick off our company to a good start.

But Geek Troika is not just about technology. Itâs about film,
music, food, wine, Harry Potter, and anything else YOU feel passionate
about. Thatâs why weâre making this change. We want to address all
shades of geekery. So there will be some changes to our podcast, but we
hope you will find them for the better. We promise to keep it as fun
and lighthearted as we can while staying informational. We sincerely
hope you all stay with us and watch us grow as content providers and as
people. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart for sticking with
us for 11 episodes and I hope youâll stick with Geek Troika for many
more!

On Wednesday, when our new episode comes out, it will be our first
Geek Troika episode. We will also have moved to our new domain:
geektroika.com. Itâs still under construction for now, but by Wednesday
it will be the official place to find me, Jon and Mike. We even have a
few more web series up our sleeves that we hope youâll love and we plan
to showcase them on the new site!

With all the love my heart can give,

Mattie Kenny

Episode 5: Squirrel

Hello world! Itâs that time again, time for another Generation Tech
podcast! Weâre discussing a whole in the world of tech today, so letâs
drill down to it:

Mattie brings us a surprising bit of info, which Google wouldnât want you to know: Ars Technica reports that less than 1% of all users use Google Docs exlusively for their office suite needs.

Mike reminds everyone, in case they forgot, that the Blackberry Storm is coming! The crew discusses the new Blackberry and their impressions on the device.

Matt strikes at the hearts of WoWers everywhere and leads us on a discussion on the newest WoW expansion pack, Wrath of the Lich King
(WoWWotLK is a mouthful). As Matt, Jon and Mattie wax poetic on their
favorite MMORPG, Mike asks the group to sway him to the bright shiny
world that the rest of the group inhabits.

Jon wraps up our trip around tech news by bringing to light an interesting tact which big media content providers could take:
as the economy tanks, and people have less money to spend, have started
to un-DRM their content rather than let users go to P2P.

Our picks of the week:

Mattie - Thinkin Lincoln: http://www.thinkin-lincoln.com/

We have reached a great turning point for our nation. This will be
reflected upon as the day when everything changed in the world as we
know. Today is the dayâMike hosts the Generation Tech podcast! Dun dun
DUN!

Jon introduces us to the mess around Sony âmoderatingâ (deleting with extreme prejudice) levels generated by LittleBigPlanet users.

Mike poses the question: are we too focused on being unfocused? If you believe a Lord Chief Justice from England, then the answer is yes. The GenTechers (We need an adverb to address ourselves by) do some deep soul searching to find an
answer.

Mattie points out that the new Flu Trend Watcher from Google, that big lovable corporation we all know so well is in fact trying not to be evil.

Matt regales us with the departure of David Tennant from Doctor Who,
and poses the question of which sci-fi shows the GenTech crew would
like to see rebooted in some shape or form. Not among the properties
nominated: Star Trek or Star Wars, or anything with a âStarâ prefix.
